Timberland’s latest campaign celebrates the Authentic Boat Shoe, expressed through the 3-Eye, 2-Eye and Stone Street styles. Rooted in enduring craftsmanship and elevated through modern styling, the collection is presented as a fashion constant, worn across generations and scenes.
Shot on the Neapolitan coast at Cantieri Aprea, a historic boatyard near Pompeii specialising in the restoration of heritage vessels, the campaign is grounded in real craft environments.
Weathered timber, working docks and hand-built boats form the backdrop. Among them are reproductions of ancient vessels used in film productions, alongside a mix of historic restorations and modern working yachts. The setting reinforces the values that define the shoe itself: utility, longevity and respect for craft.
Photographed by Paul Hempstead, the shoot brings together a diverse cast spanning ages and backgrounds. Their common ground is an appreciation for beautiful objects, hand-made detail, and elevated construction. Styled head to toe, each look nods to the boat shoe’s history while placing it firmly in the present. Heritage craftsmanship sits against youthful, modern styling, showing the shoe as it exists today, lived-in rather than preserved.

For Timberland, the boat shoe is foundational. Introduced in 1978 with the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe, the brand paired a rugged lug outsole with a premium handsewn leather upper, creating a silhouette that could move seamlessly from deck to street. A year later came the 2-Eye Lug Boat Shoe, designed with a siped outsole for on-boat performance. Over the decades, colours and finishes have evolved, but the quality of construction has never wavered.
Solid brass eyelets remain. Rawhide laces endure. Nylon hand stitching is built to hold. The leather uppers wear the marks of time, earning character rather than losing integrity. This is footwear designed to age, not expire.
